Castlecrag

Brief

The existing house was a recently completed contemporary dwelling where the original design and building phase had resulted in parts of the original brief not being realised at the time of construction. After several years of living in the dwelling, our clients decided to proceed with an additions project that would also provide a vehicle for resolving the connection of the dwelling to the steeply sloping site

Solution

The addition provides living space on the upper floor and a shower/changeroom on the lower level serving the dual function of internal guest facilities and amenities for the pool and deck areas. The deck is articulated as a series of new timber platforms connecting the various access points from the house as well as extant ground and pool deck levels. The addition is articulated as a new "bay", with the new work contrasting the existing by use of Terracade cladding.
